I watch for the moment when sunlight catches a wave. Light, shape, movement, and stillness meet for just a second, then everything changes.
Some works sit still. These do not.
Built around the way the sea looks just before the light changes: ocean horizons, wave forms, the North Sea and the Pacific held in the interval between one state and the next. Crystal glass pigments beneath the clearcoat mean the surface keeps shifting. What you see from the door is not what you see from the sofa. The colours do not move, exactly. But your eye keeps finding something it did not catch before.
That is not a property of the light in your room. It is what the work was designed to do.
