Thirty years designing things that had to work. Then, at 49, he started making art. The technical precision carried over: structure, surface, control. What changed is what it serves. Not function anymore. Feeling.
The work is built on UV ink on aluminum composite panel, finished with crystal glass pigments applied by hand. Pigments most makers never work with. Under the high-gloss automotive clearcoat they behave differently from anything else on the market: hidden tones that rise and shift with the light, visible only when the angle changes or the room does.
The result is a surface that does not sit still. What you see at 4pm is not what you see at 9pm. The first look does not close it.

At my local beach in The Hague, I watch for the moment when sunlight catches a wave. Light, shape, movement, and stillness meet for just a second, then everything changes. That in-between space always draws me in.
With Oceanic Systems, I look beneath the surface, noticing the steady rhythm of the ocean, its quiet presence, and the patterns that keep everything connected. With Endless Summer, it was the warmth of memory. Here it is the structure underneath: always present, rarely seen.
The crystal glass pigments create that same sense of discovery. At first, you see a simple flow of color. As you move, hidden tones rise and fall like slow underwater currents. The surface doesn't just sit there. It reacts. It reveals something new only when you return, or when the room changes around it.
I remember standing at Cabo da Roca in Portugal, right at the edge of the continent, watching the sun set. The water moved gently. The sky shifted from coral to blue. That shift never quite finished. It still hasn't.
The paper works are a different object at a different scale. Printed with a wide white border, signed, crystal glass pigments applied by hand with an airbrush. Each one unique. No two pigment applications are identical. When one sells, it is gone.
